Paul Hindemith's Der Schwanendreher is a viola concerto based on medieval German folk songs. While the "swan turner" literally meant someone who turned the spit of a roasting swan, metaphorically he was referring to a traveling minstrel whose barrel organ or lyre was driven by a swan-neck handle.

Edge of the Century is the twelfth studio album by Styx, released in 1990. It was the first Styx album featuring A&M solo artist Glen Burtnik, the only album to feature the Dennis DeYoung/James Young/Glen Burtnik/Chuck Panozzo/John Panozzo lineup, and the last album to feature John Panozzo on drums before his death in 1996. The album spawned three singles. "Show Me the Way" was written by DeYoung and peaked at #3 on both the Hot 100 Pop Singles Chart and Adult Contemporary Chart due to the Gulf War Troops adopting the song as an anthem.

The Miró Quartet, celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, presents an album featuring the complete string quartets of Alberto Ginastera, one of the most influential Latin American composers of the 20th century. A master of vivid contrasts and emotional depth, Ginastera infused his music with the spirit of Argentine folk traditions, bold modernist language, and a profound sense of expression. These three quartets span the entirety of his creative development, tracing a fascinating journey across three distinct stylistic periods.

“The more new discoveries you make, the more you go back to the beginning,” observes pianist Vincent Meissner. The music on his third album, ‘Eigengrau’, is characterized by an inward gaze, by his reflections on experiences and encounters that have been meaningful to him. Together with his working trio, Josef Zeimetz on bass and Henri Reichmann on drums, Vincent Meissner has developed his own language, drawing inspiration from artists such as The Bad Plus, Esbjörn Svensson, Vijay Iyer - and his mentor, Michael Wollny.

The "Sakuyahime - Alma Memorial Concert," to be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Guitar Culture Museum, will offer a beautiful musical experience that will touch the heart. Soprano Izumi Okuwaki and guitarist Tomomi Kono will perform a diverse program of Spanish folk songs, traditional English tunes, and contemporary sensibilities in an emotionally rich performance, bringing the audience a wide range of music from baroque to contemporary.

Long ignored by jazz folks who once thought the music of Burt Bacharach was beneath contempt, Stan Getz's collection of Bacharach-iana was no doubt rushed back into print in 1998 by the surprising resurgence of the composer's popularity among Gen X'ers. Truth to tell, though, is that this isn't one of Getz's better gigs; his tone is not in the best of shape, and he sounds bored with some of the tunes (like when he lazily throws a jaded quote from "Tea for Two" in the middle of "Alfie"). However, "Any Old Time of the Day" is pretty good, as is "Trains and Boats and Planes," and "A House Is Not a Home" really engages Getz's attention (it is the only track to top four minutes in length). Richard Evans supplies the routine string and brass charts on most of the tracks, and Claus Ogerman kicks in some others on three tracks, including some thoroughly useless voices…

Above the album worked the 'Greatest Ever Decade: The Seventies ', and his release took place on 2021. The album has got songs with a total duration of more than an hour. A compilation is a compilation of original music.

Antonio Caldara (1670-1736), an Italian Baroque composer, was born in Venice, where he was a chorister in the famous San Marco, with Legrenzi as his teacher. He soon spread his wings across Europe and held several impor- tant posts in Mantua, the Spanish court in Barcelona, Rome and eventual ly the post of Kapellmeister at the Imperial Court in Vienna. Caldara left a substantial oeuvre, consisting of instrumental music in the tradition of Corelli, sacred music and operas. Caldara’s sonatas for cello and basso continuo exemplify the transition from the late Baroque style toward the emerging galant aesthetic. These works are clearly written by a master of the instrument, as Caldara evidently was.

Conductor and harpsichordist Alessandro De Marchi is heralded internationally for his historically informed interpretations of operas and oratorios from the Baroque period. His repertoire is not constrained to works from that era, though; he applies his practice techniques to works from the Classical period, Romantic period bel canto operas, and beyond. He served as the director of the Academia Montis Regalis orchestra from 1997 until 2018, and he was the artistic director of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music from 2009 to 2023. De Marchi has guest conducted a variety of groups, including the youth historical orchestra THERESIA on a recording of Domenico Cimarosa's opera Le Astuzie Femminili in 2024.

The band were originally known as The Pigeons and gained notoriety thanks to their radical, slowed down and heavy interpretations of current hits. They signed to Atco Records, a division of Atlantic in April 1967 and changed their name at the insistence of Atlantic founder Ahmet Ertegun to Vanilla Fudge. Their radical cover version of The Supremes' hit "You Keep Me Hanging On" was issued as a single in June 1967. Dominated by the hard hitting approach of their rhythm section and the powerful Hammond organ playing of Mark Stein it became a US top 10 hit. The band's self-titled debut album was released in August 1967 and was a psychedelic rock tour-de-force, featuring a seven-minute version of 'You Keep Me Hanging On', it also featured imaginative cover versions of compositions by The Beatles, The Zombies and Curtis Mayfield among others. Over the next two years, VANILLA FUDGE would record a series of albums that would evolve from psychedelic rock to heavy rock and influence many emerging bands, among them Deep Purple, before disbanding in 1970.

One of the best example of Spanish prog, the debut of this Sevillian group has become one of the most sought after vinyl in their home country. This quintet - your standard prog quartet plus sax man Pepe Sanchez - develops a rather punchy and relatively personal prog but mainly inspired of the British scene while maintaining a Spanish touch through the acoustic guitar. Four long tracks of which the shortest (still above the 8 min-mark) is divided into two sections make the backbone of this album.
