Munich’s Musica Viva concert series began in 1945 as an avenue for performances of new music, much of which had been banned during the Nazi regime. Today, in conjunction with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks (BRSO), it remains a significant, high-profile international forum for contemporary composition and includes a CD series.

Composer/poet Oscar Lorenzo Fernández was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1897. He went on to become a leading figure in the development of Brazil’s classical music scene, as a composer, conductor, musicologist, and a professor of harmony in the National Music Institute in Rio de Janeiro, as well as other institutions.

Baritone Will Liverman is an unusually versatile singer, performing both mainstream operatic repertory and music rooted in the African American tradition in which he grew up. He has performed in the premieres of several new works.

Daylight is the first album where Dzintra Erliha presents her own original compositions, making it an especially personal and significant work. Described by Erliha as a musical diary, the album offers an intimate look into her inner world—her emotions, thoughts, and dreams. Through each piece, she conveys a range of feelings, from love and joy to sorrow and loneliness, inviting listeners to share in her deeply emotional journey. Manuel Blancafort’s music has a concise tonal directness that draws on his fondness for French composers. His Cançons are not simply evocative but embody an increasing use of the Noucentist aesthetic: the Catalan cultural movement of the early 20th century that was a reaction against Modernisme. Blancafort rejected the Romanticism and Wagnerian pathos of the modernist Lied in favour of Classicism and beauty – sentiments he shared with his Catalan contemporaries Toldrà, Gerhard and Mompou. Intimate, sensitive and playful, his Catalan songs connect both to his country’s past and also to a wider European musical culture.

Cory Weeds has been in my corner from day one and I am so grateful to be releasing my second quartet album on his label. Our shared reverence for the legacy of this art form and passion for the incredible wealth of music bestowed upon us has sparked both a great friendship and business relationship. We simply felt it was the right time to go into the studio and get something recorded.

"Live At Meland (Live)" is a live recording featuring the trio of Ole Amund Gjersvik (double bass), Kristian Wedberg (piano), and Stian Villanger (drums). The music blends jazz standards with original compositions by Ole Amund Gjersvik. Recorded in Italy in 1985, this is a valuable record of a unique trio - saxophonist Larry Stabbins, pianist Keith Tippett and drummer Louis Moholo-Moholo - playing at the very top of their game. Larry Stabbins, after years of playing with many of the greatest improvising musicians of the 60s and 70s (John Stevens, Chris McGregor, Keith Tippett, Mike Westbrook, Tony Oxley etc) had recently exploded onto the pop world with the bands Weekend and Working Week and was quite famous in Italy.

Unsent Letters is the weird cousin to songs on half a lifetime of albums. It has been living in the basement, in a box and is now emerging, blinking into the daylight. Even though it’s a bit rough around the edges, it turns out to be a rather charming and likeable fellow for all that. And with stories to tell.

A 7 anni dalla pubblicazione del loro ultimo disco, i Negrita tornano con “Canzoni per anni spietati”, un concept album attesissimo che rappresenta un vero e proprio atto di libertà creativa e di pensiero. Il disco contiene il singolo “Noi siamo gli altri” che è già diventato un classico tra i fan della band grazie alla melodia emotiva e coinvolgente ed al testo potente, tramite il quale Negrita danno voce agli emarginati e ai liberi pensatori, riaffermando la loro identità e la volontà di andare oltre le convenzioni

Nata per scommessa da un’idea di Manuel Agnelli, la prima edizione di CARNE FRESCA, SUONI DAL FUTURO è stata sorprendente. Quattro serate, dal 20 al 23 novembre 2024, che non sono passate inosservate, anzi, non hanno lasciato indifferente nessuno. Nata come rassegna di gruppi della zona, ha ricevuto richieste da tutta Italia. Ad oggi abbiamo selezionato una sessantina di progetti. Molti altri ne arrivano… Per questo abbiamo deciso di proseguire con tre serate ogni mese, da gennaio a maggio 2025. Poi pausa estiva e riprenderemo da settembre: CARNE FRESCA è un progetto a lungo termine.
